Organization Overview
For MT-WP, whole-person means the whole human being embedded within a whole human ecosystem. We use a science-based and lived-experience-informed perspective that recognizes the interplay among daily habits and life skills; nutrient-dense foods, sleep, and movement; body and brain, gut, metabolic and mitochondrial health, nervous and immune systems, and inflammation; emotions, clear thinking and problem solving; relationships, impacts of trauma and other lived experiences; culture, community, environment, and connection with nature; resources and opportunity; values alignment, personal spirituality, meaning, purpose, and contribution.
We begin with a fundamentally human, non-pathologizing perspective: being fully human, in itself, is not a pathology. We approach people and their experiences with curiosity, respect, and dignity, honoring what they know about themselves, what matters to them, and what they want for their lives.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we seek to understand, identify, and help address the “root” causes, conditions, and contributors that may challenge wellness and well-being, while strengthening capabilities, emotional literacy and regulation, clear thinking and problem solving, relationships with self and others, personal choice, and agency.
We recognize the good work happening throughout Montana. Rather than duplicate or compete, MT-WP seeks to listen first, build partnerships, amplify and strengthen good work, connect people and resources, and collaboratively identify and help fill unmet needs and gaps.
